2025 Mid-Autumn Festival Poster Process
Role: Led the poster design and photoshoot.
Design Challenge: Creating a poster that captured each of the artistic elements of the cakes, giving every cake its own focus within one composition.
Design Process: Placed each cake on a rock stand at a different height and set them against a night sky with a full moon, a rabbit silhouette, floating lanterns, and lotus flowers, so the occasion shaped the scene without taking focus from the cakes.
Outcome: An elegant yet fun composition that keeps the focus on each cake while capturing the magic of the festival.
2025 Halloween Poster Process
Role: Collaborated with a team member to capture the mood of the cakes and designed the poster myself.
Design Challenge: Creating a moody, atmospheric poster that still made the cakes the main focus, letting the Halloween mood build around them without taking over.
Design Process: Built a moody scene on red velvet against a dark background, using candles and wine props for atmosphere, while letting each cake carry its own playful detail, from ghost mascarpone to horns to a pumpkin shape.
Outcome: A moody, atmospheric poster that feels fun but upscale, with the cakes staying the main focus.
2025 Thanksgiving Poster Process
Role: Designer and photographer for a Thanksgiving poster. I was responsible for the entire photoshoot and for developing the composition myself.
Design Challenge: Creating a composition that felt like fall, yet still homey and comforting. Staying seasonal without losing warmth.
Design Process: Built a warm fall scene with the three pies at different heights, using burlap, wood, mini pumpkins, and a maple leaf to keep it homey, while the clean labels and gold type keep it polished.
Outcome: A fall poster that feels homey and comforting while giving each pie its own focus.
Fall Specials Poster Process
Role: Designer of the Fall Specials poster for Alexander's Patisserie.
Design Challenge: Presenting three fall drinks together while keeping each one distinct and seasonal.
Design Process: Arranged the drinks at different heights on burlap and wood, pairing each with its fall ingredients.
Outcome: A warm and cozy poster that keeps each drink easy to tell apart.
Brunch Poster Process
Role: Worked with a team member on the photoshoot, then further designed and developed the photo myself.
Design Challenge: Capturing the new and popular items for brunch, making the latest offerings the focus of the poster.
Design Process: Arranged the dishes overhead on white marble with matching beige plates, and added hands holding a plate and cutting the omelette to keep it warm and interactive.
Outcome: A poster that presents the new and popular brunch items as luxurious and inviting, with the human touches making the food feel ready to enjoy.
Tomato Soup Poster Process
Role: Designer of a tomato soup poster. Developed and laid out the entire photoshoot and composition
Design Challenge: Utilizing a photo from a previous photoshoot while focusing the poster on advertising the soup as a specialty.
Design Process: Reused a photo from an earlier photoshoot and framed the soup large and close, keeping the styling minimal with a basil garnish, a napkin, and a spoon to balance an upscale look with a comforting feel.
Outcome: A minimalistic and luxurious poster that makes the soup feel like a specialty.
2026 Father’s Day Poster Process
Role: Designer of a Father's Day poster. Designed the entire photoshoot and composition.
Design Challenge: Creating a poster that felt upscale while still capturing the element of each product.
Design Process: Elevated each dessert on dark wooden coasters, paired it with its own ingredients, and added restrained Father's Day props, a top hat and a mustache, to keep it upscale.
Outcome: A luxurious composition that keeps each dessert as the main focus while capturing the Father's Day occasion through its styling and props.
2026 Lunar New Year Poster Process
Role: Designer of a Lunar New Year poster; designed the photoshoot and further developed the composition and design.
Design Challenge: Making the cakes the main focus while capturing the artistic elements of each cake.
Design Process: Kept red as the main color with gold accents, and placed each cake on its own dark red stand with Chinese elements like fans, coins, and the horse emblem around them.
Outcome: A poster that keeps each cake as the main focus while celebrating the Year of the Horse through its red and gold styling and Chinese details.
Citrus Refreshers Poster Process
Role: Designer of the Citrus Refreshers poster for Alexander's Patisserie.
Design Challenge: Presenting two similar citrus drinks side by side while keeping each one distinct and making both feel bright and refreshing.
Design Process: Used a warm golden background, placed the lemonade on burlap with lemon slices, and placed the Arnold Palmer on a wood board with tea leaves to set it apart.
Outcome: A bright and inviting poster that makes each drink easy to tell apart and feel refreshing.
Salt Bread Poster Process
Role: Designer of the Salt Bread Series poster for Alexander's Patisserie. Led the photoshoot and designed the entire composition myself.
Design Challenge: Creating a poster for salt bread that stood out from other advertising posters, with elements that made it feel more upscale and moody.
Design Process: Arranged the three breads on black slate, paired each with its own ingredients, and used dark wood, burlap, and scattered salt for a moody, upscale feel, with restrained serif type keeping the breads in focus.
Outcome: A moody, upscale poster that presents the three salt breads as a distinct series, with each flavor immediately recognizable from its ingredients.
